Nutrition is an essential part of daily life. A balanced diet for children is very important for their physical and cognitive development. Millions of people in Africa, but especially children, suffer from chronic hunger. The consequences can be fatal diseases and lifelong developmental disorders. In the past three years, the situation in Zambia has been exacerbated by the Covid crisis and the falling price of copper. As a result, the World Bank has reclassified Zambia as a "low-income" country. The "stunting rate," i.e., too little growth and retarded development, is found in high numbers among 40 percent of the under-fives. In addition, 15 percent of children are underweight and still 45/1000 children under five die.
Through several programs, Chreso Ministries has instructed and trained mainly mothers in food production and preparation and has been able to achieve visible results with the children. The cultivation of vegetable proteins is promoted, which can be produced and processed on the own garden area. Particularly malnourished children are brought over the critical phase of their malnutrition through nutritional supplementation.
